Building a game
In the lead up to the festival we worked with Waterhead Academy, Oasis Academy Oldham and Oldham College to explore building an online game. Students developed the digital environments, storyline, plot and gameplay, with Peshkar artists bringing drama, literature, video and photography to the gaming world.
Digital Saturdays
In the preceding months we ran satellite library sessions across Oldham, bringing digital skills, fun and experimentation out from the town centre on the Saturdays leading up to the festival.
On the day
Commissioned artists delivered workshops exploring sonic art, cultural identity through GIF making, photography of Oldham's landscapes, video art production and game environment development. We even got a nice review in the local paper.
Thank you to Oldham Libraries, Gallery Oldham, Oldham College, Oasis Academy Oldham, Waterhead Academy, our young steering group and artists for making YDF17 a huge success.
