#ourteenageyears well under way

Peshkar’s #ourteenageyears project is now well under way with activity taking place in both Burnley at Shuttleworth College and in Primrose Bank, Werneth in Oldham.

We were proud to deliver an open day on a snowy Saturday at the end of January for the good people of the Primrose Bank Estate at Great Places Housing’s new community centre. There were a range of arts activities on show as well as the #ourteenageyears video booth which allowed participants of all ages to commit their memories of teenage life through the decades for our forthcoming website and exhibition.

Central to the day’s activity was the opportunity for 15 young people from the area to embark on Peshkar’s coveted Arts Award offer. In addition, a further cohort of young people have continued their arts award training every Monday from the beginning of February, using digital story telling and performance to support the #ourteenageyears project and it’s objectives.

The exhibition will open at Manchester’s People’s History Museum in September before returning to Oldham in October and Burnley in November.
